Who we are, what we do – and why you should join us
Harrow and Hillingdon European Movement is the main broad-based pro-European organisation in the Harrow/Hillingdon area.
It's part of European Movement UK – Britain's largest non-party political mass movement advocating the closest possible cooperation with the rest of our continent. An organisation which now has 130 branches nationwide.

Obviously, the political situation is reaching a very critical point – and we therefore need as many volunteers as possible.
The European Movement UK is part of a series of European Movements throughout our continent. It is therefore part of a totally pan-European network.
Significantly, they were established after World War II at the suggestion of Winston Churchill. Having defeated fascism, post-war politicians from across the democratic spectrum were determined to promote European cooperation so as to prevent extreme nationalism leading to future intra-European conflicts. They were very conscious of the fact that so many global wars have had their genesis in rivalries between European nations.
Their dream of Europe as a family of nations, fully co-operating with each other in some form of pan-European structure, ultimately became a reality - the Common Market and then the European Union. Their foresight helped give us and our continent 75 years of relative peace.
